LANGUAGECERT B1

LANGUAGECERT ESOL SELT B1: live practice test

An AI examiner takes you through the whole test in the real order: questions about you, two role plays, a discussion using a picture sheet, a short talk you listen to and answer questions on, and a talk of your own. It takes about 15 minutes.

Independent practice from B1English, not a LANGUAGECERT product. Your result is our estimate from a transcript of what you said, so pronunciation isn't judged, and it doesn't predict your official result. One free live test every seven days, or unlimited with the B1 plan.

Before you start

  • Find a quiet place and use headphones if you can, so the microphone doesn't pick up the voices.
  • When it's your turn the microphone lights up and your words appear as you speak. For short answers, just stop talking and the test moves on; for longer talks, press I've finished.
  • In Part 4 you hear a short talk twice and answer three questions out loud, then give your own talk after 30 seconds to prepare.

How the real test works

  • Part 1: questions about you and your ideas.
  • Part 2: two short role plays. The examiner starts one and you start the other.
  • Part 3: you and the examiner look at some pictures and decide something together.
  • Part 4: you listen to a short talk twice and answer three questions, then talk on your own about a related topic.

The test takes 11 to 13 minutes, and the pass mark is 60 out of 100. Compare the four B1 tests.
